LA BELGIQUE VA AIDER LE CAMEROUN À CRÉER UNE FILIÈRE DE CYBER SÉCURITÉ À L’UNIVERSITÉ DE BAMENDA

Le Cameroun veut enrichir son système universitaire avec de nouveaux modules de formation adaptés aux besoins de l’heure. Dans ce sens, le pays travaille depuis peu avec la Belgique, sur un projet de création d’un cycle de master en cybersécurité avec une orientation de recherche en cryptologie à l’université de Bamenda, dans la région en crise du Nord-Ouest.
«Cette offre de formation viendra enrichir le système universitaire camerounais», s’est targué Wilfried Nyongbet Gabsa, secrétaire général du Minesup, lors d’une audience accordée à une délégation de l’ambassade de Belgique et de l’université de Bamenda jeudi 31 août.
Ce partenariat devrait lier, apprend-on, l’Académie de recherche et d’enseignement supérieur (ARES), la Fédération des établissements d’Enseignement supérieur francophones de Belgique, dans le cadre de la coopération universitaire belgo-camerounaise.
Bien plus, le projet mise aussi sur des échanges entre les entreprises et «constitue un instrument de promotion du partenariat public-privé dans le domaine de l’enseignement supérieur», a précisé Myriam Delieu, chef de mission adjointe à l’ambassade de Belgique à Yaoundé.
De manière détaillée, cette initiative devrait aboutir à la construction d’un Centre for Cybersecurity and Mathematical Cryptology sur lequel la formation s’adossera, avec une autonomie académique et administrative.
La formation sera ouverte à près d’une centaine d’étudiants camerounais et étrangers chaque année, dont 40 pour l’option professionnelle et 45 pour l’option recherche, d’après le Minesup. Le projet bénéficiera du financement belge pendant 5 ans, puis le Cameroun prendra la relève.
Cette initiative intervient dans un contexte où la cybercriminalité cause d’énormes pertes financières à l’Etat du Cameroun. Selon les données de l’Agence nationale des Technologie de l’Information et de la Communication (Antic) publiées en mars 2022, le scamming et l’hameçonnage ont provoqué 6 milliards de F CFA de pertes financières ; les violations des systèmes d’informations d’administrations ont emporté 2,5 milliards de F CFA et le skimming (détournement des informations bancaires au guichet automatique bancaire) a permis aux criminels de dérober 3,7 milliards de F CFA. En somme, 12,2 milliards de F CFA perdus en 2021.
