TRANSPORT AÉRIEN : AIR ALGÉRIE MET LE CAP SUR LE CAMEROUN
Selon un accord qui lie les deux pays depuis février 2021 et dont le décret portant ratification a été signé mardi dernier, Camair-co, la compagnie aérienne camerounaise, lancera réciproquement ses liaisons avec l’Algérie en 2024.

Deux ans et demi après avoir conclu l’accord relatif aux services de transport aérien entre le Cameroun et l’Algérie à Yaoundé, le Chef de l’Etat Camerounais, Paul Biya, a signé un décret le 1er août 2023 pour mettre en musique ce projet avec Alger. En clair, apprend-on des sources au ministère des Transports à Yaoundé, l’on devrait assister au lancement effectif des liaisons entre les deux compagnies aériennes du Cameroun et l’Algérie d’ici décembre 2023 et avril 2024 pour Air Algérie. Après, ce sera au tour de Camair-co, le transporteur camerounais, d’atterrir à Alger. L’accord concerne essentiellement les passagers et le fret. Il permettra de «réduire considérablement le coût du voyage, le temps de parcours avec l’Europe et les autres pays d’Afrique, en plus de l’amélioration de la connectivité et la coopération internationale», se félicite-t-on à Yaoundé.
Une flotte déséquilibrée
Si la coopération dans le domaine du transport aérien des passagers et du fret entre le Cameroun et l’Algérie augure une ère nouvelle pour les voyageurs, il convient toutefois de souligner l’écart qui existe entre les compagnies aériennes nationales de ces deux pays. En effet, Air Algérie c’est plus de 5 millions de passagers transportés en 2019 avec une flotte de 56 avions répondant aux normes de sécurité internationales. La compagnie algérienne dessert plus de 77 destinations à travers le monde dont 44 internationales et 33 domestiques. Un atout significatif pour Air Algérie qui peut aisément poursuivre son déploiement sur le marché international et africain avec une flotte plus significative, à la différence de Camair-co. Créée en 2006, la compagnie nationale du Cameroun lance ses activités commerciales le 28 mars 2011. A ce jour, elle compte moins de huit avions opérationnels, ce qui explique son choix stratégique à court et moyen terme pour les marchés africain et domestique.
