La salle des conférences du ministère des Transports (Mintransports) a abrité le mercredi 20 septembre 2023 à Yaoundé, la cérémonie de signature de contrat entre l’entreprise belge Pepps Engineering et le gouvernement camerounais, en présence d’Éric Jacquemin, ambassadeur du royaume de Belgique au Cameroun. C’est dans le cadre de la mise à disposition d’un projet pilote de digitalisation de la maintenance de la voie entre les villes de Yaoundé et Douala.
Matériellement l’outil permettra de pallier certaines insuffisances notées sur la voie ferrée. Le nouvel outil va permettre au gouvernement camerounais de suivre à distance à partir d’un bureau de la Cameroon Railways (Camrail) ou du bureau d’un responsable au Mintransports, les travaux de maintenance et la sécurisation des voies.
Bien plus, le dispositif permettra de gagner en temps et en argent. «La phase pilote va uniquement concerner le rail, mais les échanges entre le gouvernement du Cameroun et le partenaire belge prévoient des extensions sur les locomotives et tout ce qui touche à l’industriel», apprend-on au ministère des Transports.
De nombreux projets en cours
« Plusieurs projets d’infrastructures sont en cours d’instruction en vue d’une part de permettre une amélioration du niveau de service et des conditions de sécurité des convois ferroviaires sur le réseau existant et d’autre part, l’extension du réseau ferroviaire national par la construction de nouvelles lignes, suivant les standards internationaux et en adéquation avec le plan directeur ferroviaire national dont le pays s’est doté depuis 2012», a expliqué Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallè Bibéhè.
Le membre du gouvernement a également évoqué le projet d’automatisation des passages à niveau entamé dans le cadre du programme quinquennal numéro 1, les investissements ferroviaires et le projet de renouvellement de la ligne Bélabo-Ngaoundéré en préparation, inscrit dans le programme quinquennal numéro 2, dont les conventions de financement d’une enveloppe globale de 157 milliards F CFA ont été respectivement signés le 31 décembre 2021 avec la Banque européenne d’investissement (BEI).
«Pour ce qui concerne le prêt de cette institution, et le don de l’Union européenne le 08 septembre 2023, il y a juste 10 jours avec l’Agence française de développement. Dans la même veine, les diligences sont en cours avec la Banque mondiale pour le renouvellement de la ligne Douala-Yaoundé. La signature de la convention de financement y relative d’un montant d’environ 275,9 millions d’Euros (Plus de 180 milliards F CFA, Ndlr) devrait intervenir dans les prochaines semaines » a précisé Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallè Bibéhè.
