Affaire Martinez Zogo : les doutes et les interrogations de Reporters Sans Frontières
Dans un court entretien accordé à «L’Urgence», Arnaud Froger, le chargé du Bureau investigation de RSF réagit suite à la publication de l’ordonnance du juge d’instruction, le colonel-magistrat Nzie Pierrot Narcisse, qui renvoie 17 accusés devant le Tribunal militaire de Yaoundé pour jugement, après requalification des faits. Pour le journaliste dont l’organisation avait publié des révélations explosives sur cette affaire, «une version qui ne serait pas confirmée par un dossier d’enquête qui a subi de véritables assauts depuis plus d’un an, au point que deux juges ont été écartés, ne signifie pas qu’elle est fausse».

L’ordonnance du juge d’instruction qui renvoie désormais les accusés devant le Tribunal militaire de Yaoundé pour jugement a été rendue publique la semaine dernière, mettant un terme à l’information judiciaire. Quelle lecture en faites-vous ?
Elle pose la question du rôle de certains protagonistes, des liens qui existent entre eux. Elle interroge aussi sur les raisons qui ont poussé le deuxième commando que nous avions identifié à intervenir. Qui savait quoi ? Qui a demandé quoi ? En lien avec qui ? Elles posent plus de questions qu’elle n’apporte de réponse mais ce n’est qu’une synthèse. Il faut continuer à travailler sur cette affaire et espérer que le procès sera l’occasion d’y voir plus clair. C’est un dossier extrêmement sensible. Il y a, en dépit des pressions, un travail d’enquête important qui a été effectué, notamment par la commission mixte mise sur pied à la demande du président dans les premières semaines après l’assassinat de notre confrère. Le fait que 17 personnes aient été inculpées dont les exécutants présumés de cet assassinat sordide est déjà significatif, surtout compte tenu du statut et du pouvoir de certains de ces inculpés. C’est un dossier qui met à très rude épreuve la volonté exprimée au plus haut niveau d’établir la vérité sur cette affaire et de rendre justice à notre confrère.
Avez-vous le sentiment que Reporters Sans Frontières aurait été manipulé en lisant cette ordonnance qui ne mentionne pas les noms de certains membres du gouvernement dont le ministre de la Justice, Laurent Esso, cité à de nombreuses reprises dans vos enquêtes largement diffusées ?
Une version qui ne serait pas confirmée par un dossier d’enquête qui a subi de véritables assauts depuis plus d’un an, au point que deux juges ont été écartés, ne signifie pas qu’elle est fausse. Nul n’est à l’abri d’être manipulé ou de faire des erreurs par principe mais nous avions à l’époque de ces révélations accès à plusieurs sources très proches de ce dossier. Autre élément, une pièce que nous avions consultée à l’intérieur même de l’enquête ne s’est jamais retrouvée dans le dossier. Comment l’expliquer? Car cette pièce existe bel et bien. Nous ne travaillons pas sur la base de coups de fil anonymes ou d’éléments qu’on nous enverrait dans le but d’orienter l’enquête. Nous sommes la seule organisation ayant rencontré Justin Danwe (le chef du commando ndlr) à plusieurs reprises, des membres du commando, le loueur du véhicule avant qu’il ne se fasse arrêter, plusieurs sources sécuritaires et judiciaires… Nous allons là où des sources fiables et des faits établis nous mènent. Ni plus ni moins. Contrairement à de nombreuses voix qui s’élèvent, nous n’avons aucun parti pris dans cette affaire, ni affinité ni hostilité envers les uns ou les autres. Nous n’appartenons à aucun camp.
Ensuite, il y a à l’évidence des pressions énormes qui ont été émises sur le dossier s’agissant de certains volets. La libération avortée de deux des principaux inculpés et l’éviction du juge quelques jours plus tard en fin d’année dernière en est la plus grande illustration. Toutes les pistes et implications ont-elles été exploitées ? Le procès permettra de voir plus clair sur ce qui a été fait, délaissé et ce qui a été écarté. Le dossier est extrêmement sensible et on peut comprendre qu’il y ait certaines difficultés.
Enfin, il faut rappeler qu’Amougou Belinga, inculpés dans ce dossier, a effacé l’ensemble de ses comptes Telegram, WhatsApp et ICloud sur l’un de ses principaux téléphones portables trois jours avant son arrestation comme nous l’avions révélé. Que contenaient ces conversations ? Qui a-t-il appelé à la période des faits ? Avec qui était-il en contact ? Il faut espérer que le procès puisse permettre de faire toute la lumière sur cette affaire mais les entreprises de manipulation et de dissimulation sont à chercher ailleurs. Nous enquêtons avec sérieux, en toute indépendance, et sans aucun parti pris.
